So who is this "Liberal Texas Diva"?
A VERY BUSY LADY, if I may say so myself.
Currently I'm a full-time public school teacher, and a full-time graduate student.
My FAVORITE job, of course, is being the world's best mom to my 4 yr old little girl.
I've been involved with and worked in public schools for almost a decade. I started out as a substitute teacher and in-school tutor while in college. Now, in addition to my classroom responsibilities (and boy there are more than a few) I also work to with new teachers and old ones as an elected officer of my local teachers union. The issues facing our teachers are a daunting ones!
Society must realize that WE ARE SOCIAL FIRST RESPONDERS!! We help to pass on our society's values and norms to the next generation. With good parental support, America's public schools can lead failing and struggling communities toward brighter days.
I have a true passion for public education!! I can only hope that I leave it better than I found it!!

My life as an activist started quiet early. I come from a long line of people that have dedicated themselves to fighting the "status quo" in order to improve the lives of those around them. My grandfather was one of the first African Americans to work for HUD in Houston, TX. He was also one of the first African-Americans to serve on the local school board and a local special municipality district board. My family has long proud history of fighting for the rights of others and working hard to create a more diverse and inclusive community.
Upon becoming a teacher, I was fortunate enough to join our local teachers union.
Through various trainings, dialogues, and state wide forums, I have been able to connect with dedicated, open-minded, fair, honest and hardworking teachers and staff members from all over the state of Texas. It is my goal to continue the legacy handed down to me by not only my parents and grandparents, but the many brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of truth, justice, equality and fairness.
